<p><b>Visual InterDev</b> war eine <a href="Integrierte_Entwicklungsumgebung" title="Integrierte Entwicklungsumgebung">integrierte Entwicklungsumgebung</a> von Microsoft zum Entwickeln dynamischer Webseiten in der Sprache <a href="Active_Server_Pages" title="Active Server Pages">Active Server Pages</a> (ASP).<sup id="cite_ref-PCMag-16-22_1-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-PCMag-16-22-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

</p><p>Das Programm war Bestandteil der <a href="Visual_Studio" title="Visual Studio">Visual-Studio</a>-Reihe und erschien in zwei Versionen: Version 1.0 war Bestandteil von Visual Studio 97, Version 6.0 erschien 1998 mit Visual Studio 6.0.<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Das Programm wird nicht mehr weiterentwickelt.

</p><p>Um ASP-Seiten interaktiv zu entwickeln, ist ein auf dem Entwicklungssystem installierter <a href="Internet_Information_Server" class="mw-redirect" title="Internet Information Server">Internet Information Server</a> (IIS) erforderlich. Dieser ermöglicht u. a. auch das <a href="Debuggen" title="Debuggen">Debuggen</a> zur <a href="Laufzeit" class="mw-disambig" title="Laufzeit">Laufzeit</a>.

<p>Sämtliche Zusammenhänge zwischen einzelnen Dateien und Ressourcen einer Website können mit einem <a href="WYSIWYG" title="WYSIWYG">WYSIWYG</a>-Editor grafisch dargestellt und bearbeitet werden.

Der Quelltexteditor unterstützte <a href="Syntaxhervorhebung" title="Syntaxhervorhebung">Syntaxhervorhebung</a> (u. a. für <a href="Hypertext_Markup_Language" title="Hypertext Markup Language">HTML</a>, <a href="Cascading_Style_Sheets" title="Cascading Style Sheets">CSS</a>, <a href="Visual_Basic_Script" title="Visual Basic Script">VBScript</a>, <a href="JavaScript" title="JavaScript">JavaScript</a>) und innerhalb von Script-<a href="Tag_(Informatik)" title="Tag (Informatik)">Tags</a> auch <a href="IntelliSense" title="IntelliSense">IntelliSense</a> und <a href="Kontextsensitive_Hilfe" title="Kontextsensitive Hilfe">kontextsensitive Hilfe</a> für <a href="Schl%C3%BCsselwort_(Programmierung)" title="Schlüsselwort (Programmierung)">Schlüsselwörter</a> und bekannte <a href="Klasse_(Objektorientierung)" title="Klasse (Objektorientierung)">Klassen</a> resp. <a href="Objekt_(Programmierung)" title="Objekt (Programmierung)">Objekte</a>.<sup id="cite_ref-Thurrott1997_3-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Thurrott1997-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup><sup id="cite_ref-4" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Für eingebundene <a href="Component_Object_Model" title="Component Object Model">COM</a>-<a href="Programmbibliothek" title="Programmbibliothek">Bibliotheken</a> und <a href="ActiveX" title="ActiveX">ActiveX</a>-<a href="Softwarekomponente" title="Softwarekomponente">Komponenten</a> steht zudem ein <a href="Klassenbrowser" title="Klassenbrowser">Klassenbrowser</a> zur Verfügung.<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-5"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<div class="mw-heading mw-heading3"><h3 id="Datenbankanbindung">Datenbankanbindung</h3></div>

<p><a href="Relationale_Datenbank" title="Relationale Datenbank">Relationale Datenbanken</a> (z. B. <a href="Microsoft_SQL_Server" title="Microsoft SQL Server">Microsoft SQL Server</a>) können über <a href="ODBC" class="mw-redirect" title="ODBC">ODBC</a> oder <a href="OLE_DB" title="OLE DB">OLE DB</a> eingebunden und verwaltet werden. Für Datenbankabfragen werden einige rudimentäre Werkzeuge angeboten, die in Funktion und Umfang denen von <a href="Microsoft_Access" title="Microsoft Access">Microsoft Access</a> ähneln. So können <a href="Datensatz" title="Datensatz">Datensätze</a> tabellarisch angezeigt und bearbeitet werden. Beziehungen zwischen den Attributen von <a href="Datenbanktabelle" title="Datenbanktabelle">Tabellen</a> (<span lang="en"><a href="Join_(SQL)" title="Join (SQL)">Joins</a></span>) können grafisch angezeigt und via <span lang="en"><a href="Drag_and_Drop" title="Drag and Drop">Drag and Drop</a></span> erstellt werden. Alternativ können auch <a href="SQL" title="SQL">SQL</a>-Befehle direkt eingegeben werden. Der interne Texteditor unterstützt für SQL-Abfragen jedoch keine Syntaxhervorhebung oder andere Tools.

<p>Die IDE kann mit Hilfe von <a href="Plug-in" title="Plug-in">Add-Ins</a> erweitert werden.<sup id="cite_ref-6" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-6"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>6<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Optional war auch eine Verknüpfung mit anderen Bestandteilen von Visual Studio, wie etwa <a href="Visual_SourceSafe" title="Visual SourceSafe">Visual SourceSafe</a>, möglich.
